Christmas in June

Welcome!

Just a quick post to show you the Christmas card I made for the Digistamps4Joy Christmas challenge. The freebie this month is: Santa's letter

I was planning a shaker card, but my time ran out!

Hope you like what I made - I'll add a sentiment when I decide who should get!

CBD Blog Hop!

Welcome!

It's Blog Hop Time!

I'm so glad you came to visit and join the hop.
My blog is the second last stop, so if you started here, I would hate for you to miss out on all the fabulous creations of my fellow DT sisters.
The Hop started here.

Our generous sponsors:

The Theme: Our favourite holiday.

We decided to all make cards according to our favourite holiday.
I just love Christmas time!
Here in the Southern Hemisphere it is summer at Christmas time, but that never stops us to have many of the traditional Christmas fare.
Fruitcake and fruit mince pies are some of the things I really like.
The tree, the decorations and the gift wrapping are some of my favourite activities around that time.
But, the special message of Christmas, of a Child born unto us is what makes Christmas my real favourite time of the year.

My cards:

Mini Bethlehem from The Doodle Pantry

I used the pre-coloured images from the set as well as the paper.
Glitter glue makes the card sparkle!

A little extra cutting and some piercing was needed to make the flower.
Glitter glue added a final touch!

The Line Up:

Sharon - Scrap Happy
Rene - Life In the Craft Lane (<--- you are here)

Double check if you visited every stop!

Seeking the Star

Welcome!

The image King 1 - Time to go was coloured with my pencils.
I used soft pastels to create the background on the image and card.
The red crown embellishment represent the star, the king they were seeking.

Giving Thanks

Welcome!

The challenge at Crafting by Designs was published on Wednesday 14 May 2014.
Our theme this week is: Thank You.

We have the fabulous Rick St Dennis as our generous sponsor. We received a beautiful image to play with. I decided, after much deliberation, to use the French Flower Cart.

If you visit his online store, you will find out exactly why it is so difficult to pick an image. There are so many beauties!
This is what I came up with:

The image was coloured with my pencils (ordinary & aquarelles). The background of the image and card was created with my favourite pastels. I used fine liners to create a frame of  'thank yous'.

There are so many things to give thanks for daily: Good health, family, friends, sunshine, rain, food, a roof over our heads, a friendly smile…this list can go on.

Come and join us with your thankful creation before the 21st of May!

Christmas again!

Welcome!

Life has been a bit hectic, but I'll get up to proper speed again!

In the meantime, I have another card for the Digistamps4Joy Christmas Challenge:

I used the April Freebie: Christmas Robin  combined with the Christmas paper background that was the freebie in March.

Hope you like it!

There is still enough time to join the challenge!

Catch-up Post

Welcome!

I've been quiet here in blog land, had some problems with my laptop, but I've been making some cards for all the challenges over at Crafting By Designs.

First up is the Anything Goes Monthly Challenge with 3 sponsors!

The first card was made with an image from one of my favourite companies A Day for Daisies:

The second is a set of small cards I made with the image from The Doodle Garden

The third card is for the latest weekly themed challenge sponsored by Sami Stamps

I'm in the process of doing separate posts for each card, so I hope you will visit again!

You are special!

Welcome!

I have made another card to enter in the Catch the Bug Colour Challenge:

I've used the very pretty Flower Pocket 7 that I received as a freebie and coloured it in shades of pink.
This I then matted on 2 pieces of textured cardstock that was coloured with soft pastels to fit into the colour scheme. With a fine liner I added the sentiment and the frame.

Now I have to hurry to get it linked up in time!

A 1st Christmas

Welcome!

Another Christmas card for the Digistamps4Joy's Christmas Challenge!

I must be quite honest that when I received this little dragon, I was a bit stumped. I'm not really the dragon & dinosaur type, I don't know what to do with them. I printed him out and there he was lying amongst the other images that needed colouring.

Yes, I sort of ignored him. The time started running out and I realised I will have to just do it. I chose a green that I liked and started colouring. Initially I just filled the space, and then those cute eyes looked at me. I fell in love with this sweetie. No, I didn't change into a dragon lover, but this little one can stay around!

All the colouring was done with pencils and I added Diamond Stickles for some sparkle.

Just for You!

Welcome!

I decided to enter Bugaboo's Colour challenge using Stella Calendar Months February.
She was ready to be coloured because I printed some extra for the CBD Anything for Love challenge where Bugaboo Digi Stamps was the sponsor.

The colour challenge:

It really looks so yummy!

Well, here is my card using mainly these colours:

My colouring was done with pencils. The card was coloured with soft pastels that was smoothed. Using my Victorian Velvet and Hero Arts From the Heart Set, I added some hearts and 'just for you' to create a little random pattern. The coloured image was layered with pink paper and cream card from my stock.

Enjoy this last day of the month of Love!

A Little Asian Bug

Welcome!

Here is my card using the super cute Jewel Junebug Buggmee that I received as a freebie!!

I went across on top using a bow, pearls and ribbon!
BUT, I cannot resist glitter so I added some Diamond stickles to her wings.
Flowers finish the diagonal row.
The pearls look really pretty as flower centers.

This is much busier than my usual style, but I really like it.
I suppose it's because it is Asian, as well as red, black & white!!

Never too Early!

Welcome!

It is never to early to start with Christmas Cards!

That is why I joined the Christmas Challenge at Digistamps4Joy!

Every month we will receive a fabulous freebie to create a card...can it really get better!

So just in time for this month, my silver & white card using the Jan Freebie!

This was so quick & easy that I'm going to use all the images I printed out to make some more.

Giving a pack of cards makes a thoughtful gift!

There is still time to join the challenge, but you must hurry!

Take Note of my New Toys!

Welcome!

I found another challenge blog : Open-Minded Crafting Fun

They have a mega first challenge! The theme is New Toy or New Technique.

I opted for the new Toy and made 2 little quick & easy CAS note cards!

My new toy is the background stamp, one of a set of 4 from Chiswick.

When I saw it, I had to have it. It is the perfect size for little cards, ATC's & tags. While browsing in the shop, I found the perfect partner for my stamp set, stickers from Upikit!

I stamped the background directly to the card using Victorian Velvet Distress ink. The green flowery heart sticker was layered on pink & green paper and added with dimension tape.

The blue background is the second impression done with Indigo Blue Impress Dye Ink. The sticker was added directly onto the card.

I really like the simplicity of the 2 note cards and the way the 2 inks changed the look of the background. I hope you like it too!

I'm also adding my 2 note cards to the Simon Says Monday Challenge where the theme is Anything Goes! My little cards are perfect for this challenge, because any design or style or project can be entered!

Lil Frolic and friends

Welcome!

I was so delighted to find this challenge blog: Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog!
How did I miss it before?

But wait, the best is that I received this super sweet image: Lil Frolic & Friends to start me off.
She is really a little darling!

I coloured her in soft fun colours & added some Stickles glitter glue. The torn edges of the image and the card layers add some extra texture. My metallic pastels provided some shiny colour to the card.

I'm adding her to the Lacy Sunshine Challenge #24 - Anything Goes

Hope to see you there too!
