MPS Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog and thanks for joining in the Michelle Perkett "Getting Ready for the Holidays" Blog Hop.

My project is an ATC with the cute Arthur:

I hope you like my little Arthur and will come back again to meet some of his friends that are still getting dressed....

An ATC is generally quick to make, you need minimum supplies and you can even use your scraps. It is versatile and can be used as is or as a card topper.
Make a few with a Christmas theme when you have a moment and then just mat them onto bigger cards or tags, and voila, many cards with little effort!

Here is the Blog Hop List: Mari is next:

Inspired by a Song

The challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio is Inspired by a Song.
I used the little owl Arthur and some paper hearts that I distressed to create my card. I added an orange bow and a few rhinestones and some Stardust Gelly roll.

And here is a close-up of Arthur in his cute waistcoat:

My song: 'Owl always love you' from the Bodyguard (I will always love you)
It is still one of my all time favourites!

Hope you like my quirky idea.
Now I will have to think up something else using Arthur for the Blog Hop!

Happy Birthday TLC on CDAC

TLC is celebrating their first birthday on CDAC.
Paulette generously supplied images to help us join in the festivities by making a card.
The challenge is to supply our own sentiment.

I decided to go vintage with my card:

I used chalk and soft pastel to give colour to my picture and sentiment. I also added some more definition with my brown and gold stamp pads. The doilie was also chalked and layered onto some gold tissue paper. Three rhinestones add some glamour to the card.

Here is a close-up of the sentiment out of my pen.

Hope you like my creation!

Recycled Christmas

This week the theme at CSDesigns is 'Recycled Christmas Challenge'.
Recycling is one of the things I feel quite strongly about, and to find a way to use it in my crafts, opens up new possibilities.

The rule is : Recycle something from an old Christmas item, part of a card, paper, etc. I had trouble to find an old card, most of the cards I had were handmade beauties from friends. But I found one, still in its gold envelope! The big star on it, was too difficult to work with, although I'm still going to find a way....

I decided to go rustic. The texture print on the green matched the leather look brown card I had. I cut strips and edged them with a gold stamp pad. The gold stars were punched from the envelope. I used the Text Christmas Tree Ornament, that I edged in green and lightly chalked to fit in with the other colours. Ok, I confess, I added some Stardust Gelly roll to the tree. You cannot have Christmas without a bit of glitter.

Here is my take on some recycling:

And here is a close-up of my tree:

Hope you like my rustic card and that you will also recycle something and create something new.

I am going to enter my card in a few fun challenges. Here is my list:

I used the Round Text Christmas Ornament to make my card. I used textured paper and added a touch of glitter to finish it all off.

Here is a closer look at the pretty ornament printed in green and layered on green that was fussy cut.

Patriotic

I've made another card with my lovely Solitaire Lace and Jewels from CSDesigns.
When I entered my Red, White and Blue card in challenges, there were a few that had a Patriotic challenge, so I felt I had to do something that feels patriotic for me.

Not all the people that knows me, knows that I am a very big sport fan. I love most kinds of sports. That is one thing I can say about South Africans, we are sport crazy. Our flag is a fabulous mix of colours and the colours of our National Teams are Green and Gold. Those are the colours I used. I added some beads which is part of the national dress of many of the people of South Africa, and also because I love beads.

I hope you like my card!

Red, White and Blue

CSDesigns has a Red White and Blue challenge on the Challenge Blog.

For my first project as Guest Designer for the month of July, I used the exquisite Solitare Lace and Jewels to create my Red, White and Blue card.

The image was coloured using Watercolour pencils and then blended with Artists White Spirits. This was then matted on Blue and Red cardstock and fixed to a white card. I diverted from my usual almost CAS cards and added a feather and some crumpled organza ribbon, and last but not least a touch of glitter with my new Stardust Gelly Roll Pen...what a fun pen to use:

I am adding a close-up of my card:

I am going to enter a few challenges where my card will fit the bill.

WINGS at Michelle Perkett

The theme for this week's challenge at Michelle Perkett is Wings.
My project is something I started during the realease week party on PCP.

I printed my lovely Peace angel on glossy paper twice, a mirror image the second time, as well as the Blessings sentiment that was a party freebie.

Both images were cut out and the sentiment as well. This I then stuck back to back witha  ribbon tag and extensions to create a tag. Some glitter was added for a bit of detail.

Here she is at a different angle for you to better see what I have done.

Hope you like it!

Michelle Perkett release her Angels!

To celebrate all this there has been a party going since last Sunday over on Paper Craft Planet in her group.

On Sunday, we filled in a crossword puzzle and then had 1 hour to create a card with a Michelle Perkett sentiment.

1 hour!!
That is quite fast for me, I take one hour to decide which image to use....

I had some images and sentiments already printed out which made it so much easier to decide what to do!
Colouring?? Fastest, I decided will be chalks or pastels.....
The sentiment and image was fussy cut and this is what I came up with in UNDER an hour:

I still photographed it and posted it, under the hour...
Just shows what can be done.
Image is the fabulous Summer. The sentiment Imagine was a freebie.
Forgot to tell you that I added some glitter too....

But wait, that's not all, my card WON!
I could choose one of the angels. I chose the lovely, serene Peace.

There will be projects posted during the weekend to show what I made with her.

Pop on over and go and join in the fun!

Father's Day Challenge at Michelle Perkett

This time of the week again for me.

The Father's Day Challenge at Michelle Perkett is Father's Day with Brown/Neutral colours.

It is my dad's birthday on the 21st of June and we have always combined his birthday with Father's day. That is my reason for a birthday theme card. He loves chocolate and the only cake I can bake is cupcakes. So I made a cupcake card. Hope you like it!

The image from Michelle Perkett was a Valentine's Day Freebie. I didn't use the sentiment that came with it.
I used my pencils, puff paint, Liquid Pearls and Stickles glitter to decorate the cupcakes.

Bingo Challenge at Michelle Perkett!

This week challenge at Michelle Perkett is : Bingo
Here is the grid:

The idea is to choose one line and use those elements on a card. You also have to use a Michelle Perkett image!

I decided on the middle horizontal row : Scallops, ribbon & flowers. The image I chose is my favourite oh so cute Rose that I received as a freebie.
I used a shiny textured card as base. The image was coloured and fussy-cut, the scallops were done by scissors & I added the ribbon & flowers to finish the Bingo line. Believe it or not, there is NO glitter on the card!
Hope you like it!

Make your own Pattern Paper at Michelle Perkett

Monday and another card for a Michelle Perkett Challenge, the 4th one for May! Maybe one day I'll finish it sooner....

The challenge : Make your own pattern paper and use a Michelle Perkett image.

I used a butterfly I received as a freebie some time ago. The butterfly was used to create the paper. It was then printed in grayscale. I decided to stay with the simple colourscheme and added a touch of green & silver, glitterpaint and bling. My card:

The 'create' is a part of the image and this is an inspiration to myself and all of you who visit my blog.

Here is a close-up of the butterfly.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #102!

Here is Sketch #102 over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday:

And here is my take on the sketch:

The first thing I had to do to make my card was to find my oval cutter. Then I had to figure out how it worked...haven't used it for about a decade, I guess...Well, I eventually figured it out.

I decided to go with an oversized oval, to almost over-emphasize my theme 'Queen for a day'. The sentiment is from Create with TLC, the frame is from Bird's Cards, the crown from Melonheadz and the fabulous chair you can find here. The papers are from a no-name pack, I added some rhinestones, ribbon and Gold Stickles for extra bling.

Say it with Die-Cuts at Michelle Perkett

The challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio this week is 'Say it with Die-Cuts'. The only other rule is to use a Michelle Perkett image.

I don't have a die-cutter but I do have punches and more than 1 pair of scissors. My card shows my 2 small flower punches and a free cut palm tree:

The image I used was Leilani that was offered as a freebie some time ago. The 'Aloha' is inside the card. I coloured her and fussy cut her out. Then I used foam tape to add her to the colour-sponged card.
The final touches were added with some Stickles glitter in a few colours. I hope you like my touch of innovation.

Forgot to add that there is a prize up for grabs if you enter in all the challenges this month!
