CBD Blog Hop!

Welcome!

It's Blog Hop Time!

I'm so glad you came to visit and join the hop.
My blog is the second last stop, so if you started here, I would hate for you to miss out on all the fabulous creations of my fellow DT sisters.
The Hop started here.

Our generous sponsors:

The Theme: Our favourite holiday.

We decided to all make cards according to our favourite holiday.
I just love Christmas time!
Here in the Southern Hemisphere it is summer at Christmas time, but that never stops us to have many of the traditional Christmas fare.
Fruitcake and fruit mince pies are some of the things I really like.
The tree, the decorations and the gift wrapping are some of my favourite activities around that time.
But, the special message of Christmas, of a Child born unto us is what makes Christmas my real favourite time of the year.

My cards:

Mini Bethlehem from The Doodle Pantry

I used the pre-coloured images from the set as well as the paper.
Glitter glue makes the card sparkle!

A little extra cutting and some piercing was needed to make the flower.
Glitter glue added a final touch!

The Line Up:

A 1st Christmas

Welcome!

Another Christmas card for the Digistamps4Joy's Christmas Challenge!

I must be quite honest that when I received this little dragon, I was a bit stumped. I'm not really the dragon & dinosaur type, I don't know what to do with them. I printed him out and there he was lying amongst the other images that needed colouring.

Yes, I sort of ignored him. The time started running out and I realised I will have to just do it. I chose a green that I liked and started colouring. Initially I just filled the space, and then those cute eyes looked at me. I fell in love with this sweetie. No, I didn't change into a dragon lover, but this little one can stay around!

All the colouring was done with pencils and I added Diamond Stickles for some sparkle.

Dressed for the Party!

Welcome!

Time for another challenge at Crafting by Designs!

Rick St Dennis is our sponsor for the Anything Goes with a Christmas Twist! challenge.

This time of the year always reminds me of the Christmas functions and the search for the right dress to wear! That is the reason for my choice of the gorgeous Deco Ziegfeld Girl to create my card! I would love to have a dress like this to wear to a Christmas party:

I coloured her with various pencils, fussy cut her and then added some glitter.
The card was prepared with layers of dark green card, mottled cream card, some gold thread and a gorgeous gold ribbon. Miss Ziegfeld was added with foam tape.

Come and have a look at the gorgeous creations made by the Design Team and while you are there, enter the challenge!

Getting ready for Christmas!

Welcome!

Time for a new challenge at Crafting by Designs!

I am a procrastinator, so before I realize it, the Christmas season is here and I'm not ready. That is why I'm hosting this challenge, to try and be ready when Christmas 2013 dawns on me.

The challenge involves Non Traditional Christmas Colours. NO REDS OR GREENS, and very little gold. So many colours have crept into Christmas that it is a bit difficult to say what is traditional, what not.

Think a little out of the box...this is all about the colours you use. Your creation can be traditional, but bring us some different colours. It can be funky, toned down, bright...

When I started making cards, I bought loads of rubber stamps, some really lovely ones. Today I'm using one of these, Silent Night, Holy Night by Hero Arts. I've played around with some dye-ink pads and then decided on the indigo. The trimmed image was edged with Cosmic Copper Brilliance, then matted on recycled cardboard and finally added to a navy card. Three rhinestones add a bit of sparkle. Voila, my first Christmas card for 2013, all in non traditional colours:

And a close-up:

We hope that we will see many fabulous creations getting ready for Christmas. You can show us cards, tags, bags, as long as you keep to the theme: Non Traditional Christmas Colours. Remember, you are getting ready for Christmas!

This challenge will run from March 6 to March 12.  Can't wait to see what you create!

Recycled Christmas

This week the theme at CSDesigns is 'Recycled Christmas Challenge'.
Recycling is one of the things I feel quite strongly about, and to find a way to use it in my crafts, opens up new possibilities.

The rule is : Recycle something from an old Christmas item, part of a card, paper, etc. I had trouble to find an old card, most of the cards I had were handmade beauties from friends. But I found one, still in its gold envelope! The big star on it, was too difficult to work with, although I'm still going to find a way....

I decided to go rustic. The texture print on the green matched the leather look brown card I had. I cut strips and edged them with a gold stamp pad. The gold stars were punched from the envelope. I used the Text Christmas Tree Ornament, that I edged in green and lightly chalked to fit in with the other colours. Ok, I confess, I added some Stardust Gelly roll to the tree. You cannot have Christmas without a bit of glitter.

Here is my take on some recycling:

And here is a close-up of my tree:

Hope you like my rustic card and that you will also recycle something and create something new.

I am going to enter my card in a few fun challenges. Here is my list:

Christmas in July

Red and Green is the colours of the challenge over at CSDesigns.
The new designs in the store is showcased by the designers so do go and visit for some more inspiration and join us in the challenge.

I used the Round Text Christmas Ornament to make my card. I used textured paper and added a touch of glitter to finish it all off.

Here is a closer look at the pretty ornament printed in green and layered on green that was fussy cut.

I want to enter my card in the following fun challenges:

Christmas 2010 Card Swap

I've received the cards from the swap we had on the RSA Group.

They are all lovely. Here is the card I swapped with all. The stamp is from Hero Arts.

Here is a close-up of the flower.

Second card:
I made a second card as well. Looking at it now, it came out quite well. Pink is not really my colour, so I hope they like it.

The recipe was a Z-fold card using Black, white, gold & 1 other colour.
